David Moyes has done a fantastic job since returning to Everton in January.

When David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche, Everton were staring down the barrel of a potential relegation after a dreadful first half of the season.

But, Moyes managed to pick up results pretty quickly and ended up guiding the Toffees to a 13th-place finish, a whopping 23 points clear of the bottom three.

This season, the Scotsman has them in ninth at the moment and has been clear in his aspirations to qualify for a European competition.

After Everton’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United last night, a former player in the Sky Sports studio reiterated his desire to manage the club one day.

Duncan Ferguson wants to manage Everton one day

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show, former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson doubled down on his desire to manage the Toffees one day.

“Going with the results that I had, I could have had the chance (to manage Everton permanently). But Carlo Ancelotti was sacked from Napoli and they brought Carlo in, in the end,” Ferguson explained.

“I thought I had a sniff at it, the record was there. But it wasn’t to be in the end. I just want to be on that touchline for Everton. I’ve still got dreams.

“But I’ve got to get back into football and management. I’ve picked two really tough jobs and then lost my last job through administration.

“So I’ve had a bit of a bad break on that one. Hopefully I will get another chance to get back in. I think I’ve got a lot to offer.

Duncan Ferguson keen to rubbish hardman narrative

Ferguson is keen to get back into management, and his appearance on Sky Sports last night was evidently a chance to put himself in the shop window and rubbish a few potentially damaging narratives around him.

Speaking with Jamie Carragher and Dave Jones, the 53-year-old was keen to dispel the myth that he’s a hardman.

“People that don’t know me think I’m the hardest man that ever walked this planet,” Ferguson said. “Some of the rubbish that gets written about you, ‘the toughest guy that ever played in the Premier League…'”

“I wasn’t even the toughest guy in my dressing room, so I could never have been the toughest guy that played in the Premier League. I’m not even the toughest guy on his sofa, by the way.”

“It’s just a lot of rubbish isn’t it? People just get a story and stick with it. Yeah I was aggressive on a football pitch, that was part of my make-up really, and I got a few red cards along the way, including some stupid ones. But it’s not me off the field and it’s not me on the training field. It’s not me if anybody knows me.”

Ferguson was linked with a move to Rangers as an assistant manager to Davide Ancelotti earlier this year, but that move failed to materialise.
