Everton are poised to sign Fulham right-back Kenny Tete on a free transfer.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Sunday morning that Kenny Tete is set to join Everton on a three-year contract.
Tete was in talks to extend his stay at the Cottagers, but evidently has decided to depart for new pastures on Merseyside.
Exciting times are ahead at Everton, with David Moyes’ side set to move into the new state-of-the-art Hill Dickinson Stadium, so it’s an attractive project for many and clearly something Tete wanted to be part of.
Fulham fans have been reacting to the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, and they all share the same opinion.

Fulham fans absolutely gutted to lose Kenny Tete to Everton
Fulham fans are absolutely gutted to see Tete leave, which is, of course, a really positive sign for the Toffees.
“What a player. Gutted to see Tete leave. What an outstanding stint he had at the club. Always left everything out there on the pitch. He was absolutely immense under Marco Silva & will be sorely missed, & tough to replace. Best of luck at Everton, thank you for everything,” @jackellyffc posted.
“Quality defender and player when fit. Great defending 1 on 1 situations. Very disappointed to see him leave. A very good signing for Everton,” @fulhamkelv said.
“Absolute joke of a club we are,” @PozFFC added.
@LukeCoo41044569 commented: “I guess King Kenny wanted a longer contract & Fulham weren’t willing to accept (just like BDR). Real shame too! .. I feel this could bite us.”
@kevwilliams23 told Everton fans: “You’ll love him like We Did. Best defensive Right Back in the league. A Great Player.”
“Sickener this. Peak years ahead and stayed loyal through ups and downs, oh and wanted to stay thank you for everything King Kenny Tete,” @DanOBFFC explained.
Tete one of the best defensive full-backs in the Premier League
According to FBref‘s underlying data, Tete is actually one of the best defensive right-backs in Europe, let alone the Premier League.
The 29-year-old sits in the top five per cent for interceptions per 90 compared to his positional peers across the continent.
He also ranks in the top nine per cent for tackles and 11 per cent for blocks, so Everton are getting an exceptionally good defender.
Going forward, Tete impresses, too, as he sits in the top 10 per cent for shots, amplifying his willingness to get forward.
On a free transfer, it looks like a really smart bit of business by the Friedkins and Everton fans are really on board with the Tete signing.
