Everton are exploring the market for a centre-forward this January transfer window, as Thierno Barry and Beto clearly need support.

David Moyes has made a striker a top priority this month and has been drawing up a list of potential targets.

It’s understood that Ivan Toney is of interest to Everton, but Alan Myers reckons that the transfer is unlikely to materialise.

PSV’s Ricardo Pepi has also been linked with the Toffees, but he appeared to sustain a serious arm injury last night, so that move may be off the cards now.

A fresh rumour emerged about another striking target over the last few days, and Gary Neville has already admitted he’s a big admirer.

It has recently been reported that Everton are keen on signing Mateus Mane, who is making serious noise at Wolves this season.

In fact, Mane scored a quite brilliant goal against the Toffees on Wednesday, which has put the rest of the Premier League on notice.

Gary Neville was left really impressed by the 18-year-old when he played Manchester United at the end of last month.

Neville said on Sky Sports commentary: “Really good from Mane. What a good young talent he looks.”

Alan Shearer was also in awe of Mane when he watched the young striker against West Ham United: “Mateus Mane, he was absolutely outstanding.”

Wolves’ stance on Mateus Mane

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves are adamant that Mane won’t be going anywhere as they look to avoid relegation.

The West Midlanders reportedly won’t consider any bids for their wonderkid, although perhaps that may just be a bargaining tactic.

Everton aren’t the only Premier League club taking a close look at Mane, as Tottenham Hotspur are also being closely linked.

Many of the big six are starting to keep tabs, too, so it seems like a mammoth task for Everton to land his signature in this window.

The Friedkin Group are keen to sign young talent, so perhaps this would be a deal they’d push the boat out for.
