Everton came up well short against Tottenham Hotspur – and the loss may well have killed the Toffees’ hopes of a potential transfer deal.
David Moyes’ side turned in a dreadful display down in north London to finish 13th in the Premier League table.
How do you even sum up that performance? 😡
Utterly woeful from Everton on the final day…
Joao Palhinha scored the only goal of the game, condemning Everton to a seventh game without a win to end the campaign.
Fans have expressed their frustration about this awful run, with David Moyes rightly coming in for criticism.
And as frustrating as it was to drop places in the table and finish 13th, there is another potential missed opportunity for Everton.

Marcos Senesi will surely now sign for Tottenham

Earlier this year, it was reported that Everton held an interest in the Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.
Senesi has been hugely consistent at Bournemouth over the years, but like Andoni Iraola, he is leaving now with his contract at the Vitality Stadium expiring.
But shortly after Everton’s interest was made public, it was reported that Spurs were all set to sign the defender, subject to them staying in the Premier League.
So Everton had the chance to potentially steal in for Senesi had they beaten Spurs on Sunday.
With West Ham United beating Leeds United, victory for Everton would have sent Tottenham down – and left their deal for Senesi in tatters.
But now, after Everton fluffed their lines so badly, it seems the north Londoners are in the clear to wrap up a deal for the Argentine defender.
And what a deal it will be for them, given he’s a free agent.
Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?
The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…
Everton fans have been tearing their hair out in recent weeks watching James Tarkowski and Michael Keane make mistakes at the back, and it’s clear that neither can be a regular starter next term.
Senesi, who’s in his prime, would have been a really good pick-up.
But with Everton failing to do their job on Sunday, any hopes of swooping in for Senesi are surely now dead and buried.
