Everton have had a frantic transfer window with rafts of incomings and outgoings this summer but Sean Dyche remains active in the market as deadline day rolls into town.

In fear of their final season at Goodison Park being another relegation fight, Everton have hit the market hard this summer to strengthen their squad. But concerns regarding the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) also saw one star leave early in Amadou Onana.

The Belgian’s departure at least allowed Dyche to add to their squad with Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom among Everton’s early headline signings. Yet their lack of experience in the Premier League ensured neither player has hit the ground running over a disappointing run.

Deadline day for the summer 2024 transfer window arrives on Merseyside with Everton last in the Premier League table. Losing 3-0 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion plus 4-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur left the Toffees with the worst goal difference in the top-flight this term.

So, with that in mind, Everton News has taken a look at three deals that Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell can seal before deadline day ends and the transfer window shuts.

Eintracht Frankfurt want to sell Everton target Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe

Deadline day may finally be the day that Everton bring Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe to Goodison Park after identifying the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder as a transfer target. The Toffees feel the 23-year-old has the potential to help plug the void Onana created by joining Aston Villa.

In a welcome boost to the Blues’ pursuit, Frankfurter Rundschau even reports that Eintracht Frankfurt want to sell Ebimbe amid Everton’s interest. He is at the top of the chopping block at Deutsche Bank Park after failing to lock down a prominent place in Dino Toppmoller’s XI.

Ebimbe has also displeased Die Adler’s sporting director Markus Krosche with his efforts in training as the Frenchman fails to unlock his full potential. So, Eintracht Frankfurt hope that one suitor steps forward before the sales shut with Ebimbe under contract until June 2027.

Everton have not opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Ebimbe yet, however. But his inability to even make coach Toppmoller’s matchday squad as Die Adler started the 2024/25 Bundesliga season with a 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund could tempt the Blues to step up.

Everton want to sign Gonzalo Montiel from Sevilla

With Seamus Coleman now 35 years old and Ashley Young even 39 years old, Everton have opened talks with Sevilla right-back Gonzalo Montiel for a transfer before Friday’s deadline. It is not impossible that the 2022 World Cup winner moves to Merseyside this summer, too.

Journalist Maximo de la Cruz Ramirez has reported that Montiel’s agent has confirmed that Everton are interested in signing the 27-year-old. He does not scoff at the idea of returning to the Premier League, either, after the Argentine spent 2023/24 with Nottingham Forest.

Sevilla are still waiting for Everton to make contact and discuss Montiel’s transfer. But he has not featured for Los Nervionenses so far this term having failed to make Garcia Pimienta’s XI as Sevilla kicked off the latest La Liga season with two draws and one defeat in three games.

Montiel even fell out of Sevilla’s matchday squad as they drew 0-0 at RCD Mallorca last time out. Now, progress has been made between Everton and the player to bring Montiel back to the Premier League. He played just 14 league games at Nottingham Forest and started eight.

Steven Gerrard wants to sign Everton’s Reece Welch for Al-Ettifaq

The Saudi Pro League’s transfer window does not close until September 2 but deadline day for Premier League clubs may see Reece Welch leave Everton for Al-Ettifaq. That is because Ben Jacobs reports that Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq are interested in signing Welch on loan.

Al-Ettifaq are working hard to beat their own transfer deadline to finish improving Gerrard’s latest squad. The new Pro League season has just started and the Faris Ad-Dahna are eager to improve on last term’s sixth-place finish as they took 48 points to champion Al-Hilal’s 96.

Welch also stomached a disappointing season last term after spending the first half of it on loan to Forest Green Rovers. Despite Welch playing in 17 League Two matches and starting 12 of those, The New Lawn Stadium natives suffered 15 defeats across their first 24 games.

Returning to Everton in January then put Welch’s progress on the back burner as he failed to feature in the first-team squad. Instead, the centre-back had to settle for 10 appearances in the Premier League 2 and Welch is now a possible late loan target for Al-Ettifaq this summer.
