Everton’s managerial situation is coming under real scrutiny following another defeat for the Toffees on the weekend.

Some serious answers are needed on Merseyside as Everton have failed to pull away from the relegation battle since the takeover.

Sean Dyche’s Everton position is seemingly safe, for now, with The Friedkin Group willing to wait until around mid-March as they continue their review of the club.

But Everton are eyeing Graham Potter as their next manager if they are to end up moving on from Dyche.

And there is one player at Goodison Park who the former Chelsea manager is already very familiar with from his time in London.

Graham Potter is a fan of Everton’s Armando Broja

After signing in the summer on loan from Chelsea, Armando Broja had just made his return from his long-term injury.

Broja sent a message to Dyche that he was ready to play from the start, which he has done over the last two games.

But as the Albania international fights to return to form, some past comments from his previous manager Potter could provide some optimism if the 49-year-old is to be appointed.

“Nice at the end for Armando to score. I’ve been here three or four weeks so taking no credit, great finish nice pass too and whenever he comes on he works hard for the team,” he told the media after Broja scored against Wolves.

“He’s had to be patient but he’s been working hard in training and it’s nice for him to score.”

Broja has struggled on Merseyside with the striker picking up another injury issue in the game on the weekend against Bournemouth.

Now in the second half of the season, the £30m-rated Broja is going to need a strong end to the campaign if he is to see Everton make his stay permanent in the summer.

The Albania international’s biggest issue in his career has been finding consistency due to his injury issues.

That was the case under Potter during their time together at Stamford Bridge, too.

However, Potter is clearly a fan of Broja and his arrival at Goodison could see Broja become the regular starter with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future appearing to be away from Everton.

There are serious issues for Everton going forward, nailing down a regular scorer up top would be a huge step forward for the Toffees.

Perhaps if Potter is to be appointed, Broja could become the main man to lead Everton forward.
