The future of a number of Everton’s players is hanging in the balance this months with numerous contracts ending in the summer.

Work is needing to be done over the winter market for the Toffees with Everton far from where The Friedkin Group would be hoping.

Sean Dyche’s side suffered a frustrating defeat on the weekend which brought the Blues back down to earth following four consecutive games without defeat.

But it does appear there will be some money spent this month with Everton prioritising a new midfielder and forward in the January window.

However, there could also be movement going the other way with one Champions League side now asking for information on one of Everton’s players.

Atalanta ask for information on Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton have decided not to offload Jake O’Brien this month despite the defender failing to make an impression on the starting XI.

But there are a number of players which decisions need to be made on soon with their contracts expiring at the end of the season.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Serie A side Atalanta have just asked for information on Dominic Calvert-Lewin in recent hours.

It is noted the striker has interest coming from a number of different sides this month as he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement.

With his future looking increasingly likely to be away from Merseyside, a decision is expected soon on his next move.

Newcastle United have shown interest in the ‘outstanding’ Calvert-Lewin ahead of the summer.

But it is foreign clubs which will hold the advantage this month due to the rules surrounding pre-contract discussions.

This comes after Everton were confident of landing Calvert-Lewin on a new deal just a matter of weeks ago.

Sean Dyche made Calvert-Lewin message against Nottingham Forest

Having only scored twice all season, the 28-year-old was finally benched last weekend against Nottingham Forest.

Calvert-Lewin has been criticised for being too comfortable at Everton prior to losing his spot to Armando Broja.

The Albania international may have failed to score, but Everton fans have praised Broja in recent weeks for what he has shown coming off the bench.

With some key weeks ahead of Calvert-Lewin, it will be interesting to see whether his recent drop to the bench could mark the end for him in the starting XI if he signs to a new club.

Calvert-Lewin’s partner hit out at Dyche on social media after the game against Forest, which certainly wouldn’t have helped the situation.
