Everton are now looking to land signing number four of the summer, just hours after landing Mark Travers.
The Toffees were in action on Tuesday night with their first pre-season friendly of the summer.
David Moyes was not able to field either Travers or Thierno Barry, with the only summer signing on display being Carlos Alcaraz.
Ahead of the summer tour of the United States, Moyes is demanding more Everton arrivals from the club’s owners.
Plenty of players have left Everton this summer already as free agents, and the Blues need to bolster both quality and quantity on Merseyside.
Everton are keen to add to their midfield, and there is one player whom the Toffees are now preparing their opening bid for.

Everton prepare opening bid for West Ham’s Tomas Soucek
Ahead of the summer window opening, Everton held an interest in Tomas Soucek who Moyes brought to England a number of years ago.
The Czech international’s future remains up in the air as the club’s return to pre-season action ahead of the new term.
According to Team Talk, Everton are now preparing an opening £12m bid for Soucek as the Friedkins remain confident of landing his signature.
It is claimed the opening offer from the Hammers is set to land on West Ham’s table imminently, and it is expected to match their valuation.
Leeds United are showing an interest in Soucek, but the report suggests the 30-year-old will only leave the London Stadium for his former boss.
Some Everton fans have shared their concern over a move for Soucek this summer.
But this is a player who the 62-year-old manager is keen to bring to the Hill Dickinson Stadium over the coming weeks.
What David Moyes has previously said about Soucek
Everton have £100m to spend in the transfer market, and £27m of that was spent on signing Thierno Barry.
With so many positions still needing to be filled, the Blues are going to have to get clever with their money.
Soucek may divide the fans’ opinions, but it is apparent this is a transfer being driven home by Moyes.
The former West Ham boss has plenty of experience working with Soucek, and he has had a lot of praise to lavish on the midfielder.
‘I thought he was fabulous in the first half,” he said after West Ham’s trip to Anfield in 2020.
“He was a big loss to us because, especially in the second half, we didn’t have an awful lot and any way of tightening up, really. It was a loss.”
