Everton face a ‘relegation six-pointer’ on Saturday against Leicester City.

David Moyes has been able to get a tune out of his Everton side since landing back on Merseyside with a comfortable cushion opened on the relegation zone.

A win for Everton on Saturday could take them nine clear of Leicester, but a defeat could also really drag the Toffees back into the mix.

The Friedkins have now been at the helm for just over a month and there has been plenty of change.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes admitted Everton are working on new signings but there is nothing imminent.

Paired with the injury struggles which the Blues are dealing with, the 60-year-old has shared his thoughts on Everton’s chances of survival.

Everton are missing Orel Mangala through injury with the midfielder set to miss the remainder of the campaign.

However, the Blues are yet to see any replacements come through the doors on Merseyside.

During the press conference on Friday, the Everton boss did not shy away from the difficulties which could lie ahead of his side this season.

“Well, I hope so. We’re going to have to work at it with the last two results would suggest we’ve done quite well,” he said.

“But I’m not daft enough to get carried away and I know that it used to be 40 points to stay up, I don’t think we’ll need as much as that this year, but I certainly know we’re going to have to win a few more games to make it happen.

“I hope the squad is strong enough if we don’t get anyone in, but, in a way, I’m still saying I would like to get in a few players if we can.”

Moyes is pushing for Everton to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea before the deadline on Monday evening.

A player of his quality could provide the Toffees with a real boost in their fight against the drop.

Everton’s PSR issues have shocked David Moyes

It has been suggested Everton could spend around £40m this month in the winter transfer market.

No Premier League club was judged to have fallen short of the PSR regulations in the announcement issued earlier in January.

However, Moyes has been shocked by how the financial restrictions have hindered Everton’s ability to spend this month.

“I’ve got to say, I’ve been really surprised in the way it’s restricted the football club,” Moyes added.

“I think I’m just beginning to see it for myself. I’m beginning to understand PSR a bit more; we’ve still got a little bit of work to do with that.”
