Everton are now three weeks into the January transfer window and still awaiting their first signing.

After a month of change at Goodison Park, Everton fans were treated to their first win in the league this year on Sunday.

David Moyes is demanding new signings at Everton even after the victory over Tottenham Hotspur, as the Toffees remain lingering at the wrong end of the table.

The Friedkin Group are still looking to secure their first signing since taking over the club last month.

However, there are moves being made behind-the-scenes in an attempt to provide Moyes with some upgrades to his squad.

How much Everton have to spend in January

Everton are expected to sign two players in January, at the very least.

The Toffees certainly need improvements to their squad with Sunday’s emphatic display almost ruined by a late surge from the visitors.

According to iNews, Everton have the ability to spend up to £40m this month without coming up against any PSR issues.

Everton were concerned about PSR coming into the month, but there is believed to be £5m-£10m leeway with the financial constraints.

As a result, lower-value deals and oversee loan deal are expected to be ‘more likely’ for the Friedkins to approve before the end of the month.

Everton are confident of signing Ernest Nuamah after talks which took place late last week.

However, the victory over Spurs cannot pave over the cracks which have been on display at Goodison all season long.

Everton need to capitalise on a positive weekend

It could not have been much more of a positive weekend for Everton with the way results around them have gone.

Morgan Gibbs-White was wowed Iliman Ndiaye’s performance for Everton as the Toffees put three past Spurs.

But there was also the boost from seeing Ipswich Town and Wolves both suffer defeats.

This has allowed Everton to open up a bigger gap on the pair and the bottom three, but this must be met by positive work in the transfer window from the new owners.

A couple of quality signings, under the new manager, could well prove enough to drag Everton out of the relegation zone.

Moyes has already improved Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s performances, so adding further quality could be a real boost.
