How can Everton expect to move forward when David Moyes wants to sign this player

Everton are set for a busy summer transfer window.

David Moyes has publicly asked the Friedkin Group to show ambition and back him in the transfer market.

“I also want the ownership to show that as well. I want them to come out and show, ‘We’re here, we’re going again, we’re supporting you’,” Moyes said last month.

Are there any players from the relegated clubs you want to see Everton go after this summer? 🤔

It seems the American investors have responded, as Everton are already being linked with a plethora of talented players.

However, one of Moyes’ priority targets is very underwhelming, and it’s not going to move the club forward enough to make a real impact next season.

Everton signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be underwhelming

With Seamus Coleman departing upon the expiry of his contract, and Jake O’Brien tipped to return to centre-back, it’s imperative that Everton sign a new right-back this summer.

That said, the Toffees are exploring a £10m deal to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka following West Ham United’s relegation to the Championship.

Wan-Bissaka would be a good addition from a defensive aspect, but he’s so limited going forward, and that’s already the main issue with O’Brien and Coleman.

So, signing the Congo international wouldn’t really move the needle much, and to be honest, it’d be really underwhelming for supporters.

How would you feel about Hayden Hackney becoming Everton’s first signing? 🤩

For this team to really progress to the next level, Moyes must sign a right-back who can contribute in the final third and deliver assists.

Everton were looking at Zakaria El Ouahdi, who registered a whopping 18 goal involvements as a wing-back for Genk last term.

That’s the sort of profile they should be signing, as it’d really help the centre-forward to score more goals, with more quality crosses coming in.

But, as it stands, it looks as though it’ll be Wan-Bissaka, which isn’t a good sign ahead of the new season.
