How Everton boss David Moyes truly feels about West Ham United months after being let go

David Moyes has been a revelation at Everton.

At the start of the year, Everton were staring down the barrel of a possible relegation for the first time in the club’s history.

Sean Dyche’s men were flirting with the relegation zone all season and so the Friedkin Group decided to replace him with David Moyes, which has turned out to be the correct call.

Moyes has guided the Toffees well clear of relegation trouble and his side are now very much looking up ahead of the move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Scotsman’s stock has risen even greater after the struggles West Ham have endured since his departure last summer.

And now, it’s just come to light how Moyes truly feels about being let go by the Hammers.

Joe Cole shares what David Moyes told him about West Ham United

Joe Cole was at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground last week and was interviewed by the social media team.

Cole revealed that he played for Everton as a schoolboy, which was a little-known fact to many supporters.

The former Chelsea playmaker also had a chat with Moyes and has shared how the Scotsman feels about his West Ham United exit.

“I was at Everton as well this week, Cole explained.

“I have been about, and I was with David Moyes, and we were chatting about West Ham. He holds the club in such fondness.

“Yeah, everyone loves West Ham, but he was telling me it’s remarkable what he’d done at the club, the semi-final, the Conference League final and in the club, that’s one of them, they got rid of him, and everyone was expecting, right, just going to change this brand of football.

“And it just, Lopetegui, it went a bit sideways.”

It seems the Scotsman still feels somewhat miffed by the decision to let him go off the back of multiple European campaigns and, most importantly, winning the UEFA Conference League just a year prior to his exit.

Moyes proving that the grass isn’t always greener

After Moyes’ exit, West Ham swooped in for former Wolves and Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui, but that experiment lasted just a few months.

Lopetegui, who spent a staggering £130m on transfers, was sacked after 20 games in charge, with his side languishing in 14th place.

In came Graham Potter, and he too has endured a tricky start to life in East London, winning just three of his first 15 games in charge.

The Hammers, despite boasting a much more expensive squad, are below Moyes’ Everton.
