Everton may not have played in Saturday’s FA Cup final, but the result certainly had an impact on the Toffees’ season.

David Moyes and his side failed to make much of a dent in either of the domestic cup competitions.

However, it has been a much stronger Premier League campaign for Everton, who still hold a faint possibility of securing European qualification.

Let us know your prediction ahead of Sunday’s game! 🤔

Manchester City hand Everton European qualification boost with FA Cup triumph

The winner of the FA Cup secured a spot in next season’s Europa League. Given Man City are already guaranteed Champions League football, their spot is passed down the league.

This now means that sixth and seventh spots in the Premier League are currently on course to secure Europa League football.

Eighth spot in the Premier League will, therefore, earn Europa Conference League qualification.

However, things could get even more interesting for 10th-placed Everton, if Aston Villa are to win their Europa League final.

European football still a possibility for Everton… just

Moyes targeted European football all season with Everton, but recent weeks have seen the Blues fall slightly short.

Two games remain against Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur for the Toffees, with a maximum six points able to take them to 55 points.

On the notion that ninth place could secure Europa Conference League qualification, the Blues remain well within the fight.

Chelsea currently occupy ninth spot and sit level on 49 points with Everton. Given their recent form, there is little reason to believe Everton are not still alive in the race for Europe.

Results will need to go in Everton’s favour, but there is still a possibility for those passports to be required for next season.
