How the Premier League table has looked since the day Sean Dyche took over at Everton is shocking

Everton have been well below par for years and have become accustomed to relegation battles.

Since Carlo Ancelotti departed the club in 2021, Everton have been on a steep decline and have gone through three managers.

Rafael Benitez, Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche have all fallen victim to the axe and now it’s David Moyes’ turn to steady the ship and get The Toffees back up the league table.

Dyche’s sacking came as quite a shock to pundits in the media and fans around the country, but not to the Goodison Park faithful.

They’ve known just how bad it’s been at times and this staggering statistic amplifies exactly that.

Everton rock bottom in Premier League since Sean Dyche took over

From the day Dyche joined Everton in January 2023, to the day he left just shy of two years later, the Toffees would sit second from bottom in the Premier League table.

These standings don’t include sides who have been relegated.

In fact, Everton are joint bottom, only above Wolves on goal difference, which shows the decision to sack Dyche certainly wasn’t a ruthless one – as has been portrayed.

The former Burnley boss has been on thin ice for months and if you’re to play his pragmatic style of play, results simply have to come.

So this table certainly vindicates the Friedkin’s decision to replace him with Moyes.

Everton hope Moyes will bring a more expansive style

According to i News, there is a feeling around the club that Moyes will be able to bring better results whilst playing a more expansive style of play.

The former West Ham United boss has a fairly similar reputation to Dyche in terms of how his teams are set up, but actually, there’s a lot more emphasis on attacking the wide areas and getting crosses into the box.

His Hammers side played some really good counter-attacking football, too, and had technical and dynamic players like Lucas Paqueta and Mohamed Kudus.

So there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about Moyes’ Everton, especially with three signings expected to be made by the Friedkin’s.
