Everton sold Youssef Chermiti to Rangers last summer transfer window.
Rangers forked out around £8m on Youssef Chermiti’s signature, which is their second most expensive signing of all time.
Chermiti endured a really difficult start to his Ibrox career, as he didn’t score his first goal until the end of October.
Winter window now shut, what striker do you want signed in the summer for Everton? 💥
No excuses can be made when the window opens again 😫
Fast forward to February, and the landscape has shifted for the former Everton striker, who now has a new manager in Danny Rohl following Russell Martin’s sacking.
That said, let’s take a look at how Chermiti is now faring in Glasgow.
Former Everton striker Youssef Chermiti is finding his feet at Rangers
Chermiti is now finally starting to show his quality at Rangers and actually scored his first hat-trick for the club at the weekend.
The 21-year-old scored three goals against league leaders Hearts to keep the Gers well in the mix for the SPFL title.
Chermiti also netted a brace against Celtic last month, so that’s two huge games in which he’s made the difference.
Is Braiden Graham ready for his Everton debut? 👀
Speaking after the game, Rangers boss Danny Rohl said the young striker deserves more credit, as he still receives some criticism for his inconsistency.
“I hope that Youssef gets a little bit more credit because now in two times in big games he showed that he is a big player. He can make the difference.”
Rohl added: “Big games are for big teams, and in big games you need big players. I think Youssef showed away at Celtic by how he scored and today he scored again.”
Youssef Chermiti stats 2025/26
There is still a lot of doubt around what level Chermiti can reach, as he had no success in Europe this season.
The 2004-born failed to score in eight appearances, although he has netted a respectable seven times in the league.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Scottish Premiership | 19 | 7 | 2 |
| Europa League | 8 | 0 | 0 |
| League Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Indeed, for one of Rangers’ most expensive acquisitions of all time, you’d have to say that goal tally is a little underwhelming, but it’s clear that he is developing.
It’s easy to forget Chermiti is still only 21, so there’s plenty of time to grow into his price tag.
From Everton’s perspective, they’ll still be pretty pleased with the £8m they received for the up-and-down frontman.
