Everton are well within the race to sign Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish.

The summer transfer window has really ramped up over the last week for Everton, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signing from Chelsea.

David Moyes will be pleased to see that Angus Kinnear is also pushing to make some attacking signings, as well.

With Moyes looking to strengthen his wide options, Everton are keen to sign Grealish from Man City on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans this summer, but a move away from the Etihad Stadium will come at a price.

City want Everton to pay all of Grealish’s wages if they are to take him on loan.

The finances may be an issue, but Alan Stubbs has already put in some groundwork after speaking to Grealish recently.

Alan Stubbs tells Jack Grealish why he should join Everton

It has been suggested that Grealish would prefer a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but the Lilywhites are said to have distanced themselves from the winger.

With Grealish’s options extremely limited, Everton have remained on the scene in the hope of signing the Englishman.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Stubbs has admitted he recently spoke to Grealish whilst on holiday about a potential move to Merseyside.

“To be honest, I had a night out with Jack in the summer over in Marbella,” said Stubbs.

“I tried my best to get him to Everton. I was telling him how much he’d be loved.

“He’d be an idol at Everton, the fans would really take to him.”

Grealish has rejected a potential move to Fenerbahce, with the City man keen to remain in the Premier League.

With the stadium move now in full swing, Grealish’s potential signing would be exactly what fans want to see ahead of the opening home fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Grealish has worked on his fitness all summer

Stubbs may have bumped into Grealish in Marbella, but don’t be fooled, the winger has been hard at work.

Gabriel Agbonlahor recently shared how hard Grealish has been working on his fitness during this summer’s break.

Guardiola omitted Grealish from City’s Club World Cup squad, which meant the 29-year-old has trained independently for a large chunk of the summer.

Grealish has now returned to squad training, but his exit now feels like a matter of when and not if.

As Stubbs suggested, Grealish could very quickly become an idol at Everton. But he needs to trust the project which is unfolding, given that there is currently no European football on offer.
