Everton have made four signings this summer as Kevin Thelwell has bolstered Sean Dyche’s squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Toffees only have to wait until Saturday afternoon before their season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park.

Dyche must be delighted with the work which has been done so far at Everton in the market considering the club’s worries coming into the summer.

Having secured Premier League survival, Everton then faced the fears of the looming PSR deadline back in June.

However, the Blues were able to escape any further sanctions as they sold the likes of Ben Godfrey and then brought in further profits with the sale of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa for £50m.

One of the summer signings Iliman Ndiaye has now admitted there was a special reason behind him making the move to Goodison this summer.

Why Iliman Ndiaye really wanted to join Everton

The summer business may not even be over at Everton just yet with over two weeks remaining in the transfer market.

Everton are believed to be showing an interest in signing Kalvin Phillips as they look to add another midfielder to their squad.

But it is forward Ndiaye who has told BBC Sport that there was one ‘special’ reason that made his decision to join Everton.

“It will be really special. I wanted to come here before it leaves this place. Being part of the history is a big thing,” Ndiaye said about playing in the final season at Goodison.

Nidaye made the move from Marseille in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £15m and has made a bright start to life on Merseyside.

“I am really excited to score a lot of goals and I am a player that likes to get fans out of their seats.

“We all know the aim and personally I think we can end higher than last season. I see some really good things about the squad such as togetherness, which is really important.”

Will Iliman Ndiaye start ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

With Saturday’s opener on the horizon, Dyche is going to be left with a big decision to make as to who is going to lead the line up top.

Everton’s biggest issue last season was finding the back of the net as they ended the campaign with the second worst total of goals scored.

Dyche has made the decision to keep Beto this summer despite the striker receiving interest from Atalanta.

But Calvert-Lewin’s future at Everton is still undecided with the striker only having 12 months left on his deal.

However, it may still be seen as a bold call to drop the likes of Calvert-Lewin for Ndiaye who only arrived a matter of weeks ago.

The early signs from Ndiaye have been positive, but Calvert-Lewin did also manage to find the back of the net in the friendly against Roma at Goodison.
