It took David Moyes’ side until the second half to find the breakthrough, as Carlos Alcaraz and Beto secured the win.
For their efforts, Everton have sealed themselves a third round tie against Wolves at Molineux.
Ironically, that is exactly where the Blues are heading on Saturday for their latest Premier League game ahead of the international break.
Jack Grealish played against Mansfield, with the 29-year-old showing his eagerness to play at every possible opportunity on Merseyside.

After the win at the weekend, Rio Ferdinand said Grealish did not play with any freedom as he was restricted out wide.
The 29-year-old did provide two assists, and showed his joy at being back on the pitch, but that wasn’t enough for the former Manchester United defender.
On Wednesday night, Grealish played out wide again, but comparing his heat maps from the game against Brighton and Mansfield shows a big difference.
Against the League One side, Grealish was not as restricted to the flank, with the 29-year-old making a lot of touches in the middle of the pitch.
That highlights the freedom to roam which Grealish was handed by Moyes.
Clearly, against Brighton, there was an instruction for the Man City loanee to stick to his position and stretch the opposition.
What will be interesting to see is how that translates into the game on the weekend against Wolves.
The Mansfield fans booed Grealish throughout the game, which is perhaps a compliment to what he has achieved over the years.
One thing that is certain, is he has the support of the Everton fans who have already taken to the 29-year-old on Merseyside.
