Everton were held to a 2-2 draw yesterday in the Premier League, with Manchester United coming from behind to salvage a point.
David Moyes’ side looked to be on course for another big result, having led 2-0 at half-time.
The Toffees were not even at their best, but they didn’t need to be to create a two-goal deficit, with United really poor.
But unfortunately, Everton could hold onto their lead, with Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte scoring in the second-half.
But there was huge controversy at the end when a decision to award Everton a penalty for a challenge on Ashley Young was overturned.
Referee Andy Madley initially gave a spot-kick, but was then sent to the pitchside monitor by VAR before he changed his mind.
The game ended 2-2, and Jake O’Brien sent a message to fans after the game.

Jake OBrien sends message to Everton fans after Manchester United draw

The penalty overturn will likely be talked about for days.
Even Rio Ferdinand felt Everton should have had a penalty and last night on Match of the Day there was more confusion.
Alan Shearer called the VAR decision against Everton ‘mind-boggling’, mainly because of the camera angles that were used to show Madley the incident again.
It was highly controversial, and there were feelings of real frustration after the game.
Between letting the 2-0 lead slip and then not getting that penalty, fans are feeling somewhat bitter today.
And Jake O’Brien also admitted he feels ‘gutted’ about the ending to the game, as he sent a 24-word message to fans on social media.
He said: “Gutted we couldn’t take all three points today. A couple of days’ rest and we go again on Wednesday night.
“Appreciate the support, Toffees 💙”
Jake O’Brien stats for Everton vs Man United
O’Brien and his teammates will undoubtedly be frustrated that this wasn’t three points for Everton.
But he can be pleased with his own performance, as his good form continued under David Moyes.
Moyes has really gotten a tune out of O’Brien, who has responded well to the show of faith from the Scot and not let his manager down so far, operating at right-back and tucking in at times as part of a hybrid role.
