Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim says what was ‘amazing’ about Everton fans despite what they chanted

It was a contentious afternoon at Goodison Park as Everton dropped two points against Manchester United in a 2-2 draw.

There was plenty of controversy between Ruben Amorim’s side and David Moyes’ Everton as despite the Toffees dominating for the majority of the game, they couldn’t be separated.

Evertonians might have felt they were hard done by, as Everton should’ve had a late penalty against United.

VAR failed to show the right angles for Everton as Ashley Young was pulled back by Matthijs De Ligt with seconds to go.

Amorim agreed with the penalty decision but it’s what he said about Everton fans that was really surprising.

Ruben Amorim says what was ‘amazing’ about Everton fans

The Man United boss is a calm character despite normally berating his team, which he did after another poor showing.

Everton will feel more disappointed having bottled a 2-0 lead, but Beto continued his fine goalscoring form.

Goodison Park showed once again why it will be missed in the Premier League, as Amorim praised the stadium and the Everton fans after the controversial draw in a post-match interview.

“I think it is amazing, I think the fans of Everton are amazing.”

Amorim’s comments are surprising after what Everton fans chanted

There are only five home games left at Goodison, as the emotional farewell to The Grand Old Lady is unfortunately approaching.

Hopefully, there aren’t any more VAR shenanigans on display as once again the officials took centre stage.

Everton fans made their feelings clear to the referee, and to United when they were leading 2-0.

Evertonians chanted to United ‘You’re going down’ which makes Amorim’s comments quite surprising, but there’s no denying Goodison was class once again.

Amorim might get his own back if United sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, but in the meantime, it’s classy from the Red Devils boss.
