Everton came from a goal down to take a point against Brentford in the Premier League, in a result that saw Jake O’Brien score his first goal for the club.

Everton moved on to 32 points with the result, and are now 15 clear of the relegation zone.

The Toffees could have put Brentford to the sword at the Gtech Community Stadium, having had a number of decent chances.

Beto had three one-on-one opportunities but couldn’t convert any of them.

Yoane Wissa, who branded Everton ‘tricky’ opponents, opened the scoring for the Bees just before half-time, with Everton defending a long throw-in pretty poorly.

But Jake O’Brien popped up in the 77th minute to equalise – and he has today given one assurance to fans on social media.

TNT commentator Adam Virgo branded O’Brien ‘an absolute revelation’ against Brentford – and his performance was certainly impressive.

The star had a tricky customer to deal with in Kevin Schade, but gave a solid account of himself and finished the game with a whopping 14 defensive actions, including nine clearances.

And O’Brien did superbly on the goal, covering a huge distance to get up and support the attack.

O’Brien met the cross perfectly from Vitaliy Mykolenko, who registered his first Everton assist, and the player has today given one assurance to fans on social media – and that was to expect more.

He said: “First Premier League Goal & unbeaten in 7. More to come 💪🏼💙.”

Whether O’Brien means more goals, or more great performances, fans will not mind too much.

Sean Dyche has egg on his face as Jake O’Brien rise continues

There was perhaps not a more deserving player to score a goal under David Moyes than O’Brien.

He had a very tough first half of the season, with O’Brien even admitting he wasn’t happy under Sean Dyche and his reluctance to play him.

But O’Brien has been a key figure for Moyes so far, and his consistent performances really don’t reflect well on the former manager.

He is getting better and better, and watching him, it’s crazy to recall how little he featured in the first half of the season.

It’s exciting to think of how good he could become, especially once he moves into the middle which is his natural position.
