It has been a fine season so far for James Garner, who last night drew praise from Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football.
Garner signed a new contract over the weekend, which is a major boost for the club after he stood to leave as a free agent at the end of the new season.
It was no less than he deserved.

Thomas Tuchel has not called him up to a squad yet…
This season, James Garner has shown fantastic consistency for Everton, having played in a number of different roles, including both full-back positions.
The star then stepped up in a big way in the absences of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Ahead of last night’s game with Leeds United, Jamie Carragher took the opportunity to pay tribute to Garner.

Jamie Carragher suggests James Garner is now one of the first names on Everton’s teamsheet

Garner has continually drawn praise this season for his all-action performances.
Ahead of the Leeds game, some remarkable stats about Garner did the rounds, showing him to be ahead of the likes of Elliot Anderson and Adam Whaton for combined tackles, interceptions and chances created.
Last night, pundit Jamie Carragher sang Garner’s praises on Monday Night Football, and insisted he is now one of the first names on Moyes’ team sheet.
He said Sky Sports: “I really like him. He’s really coming into his own now at Everton. I think when he first initially came in at times you’d find him at right-back. He did a brilliant job at right-back at different times under Sean Dyche.
“But it almost feels like, the first name on the teamsheet, certainly in his position. With the injury to Dewsbury-Hall, who was having a great season, he’s certainly been right up there with Everton’s best player.”
Carragher says Garner has chance of England call-up
Carragher also touched on the talk about Garner playing for England.
After the win over Aston Villa, Moyes suggested Garner should now be close to playing for England, and Carragher concurred.
“When Moyes gets asked about players in terms of international squads, certainly England… and there was no doubt after this game (vs Villa) that Moyes mentioned it. There was a picture of Moyes talking to Thomas Tuchel. I’m sure his name would have been mentioned.

“There’s a lot of great names in that central midfield position. He’s played against Elliot Anderson and Forest twice in the last few weeks. He’s created a goal, and scored a goal as well. He’s certainly come out on top in that individual battle in those particular games.
“It remains to be seen if he does get that call-up in March. But if he carries on the way he’s going, he’s got a great chance.”
