Jamie Carragher reckons David Moyes will be annoyed after what happened during Fulham vs Forest

Everton fans were left absolutely baffled on Saturday evening with some of the decisions made in their game against Arsenal.

David Moyes was handed his second defeat in a row after losing to Arsenal on the back of the loss away to Chelsea.

The Toffees had to face the league leaders with a number of absent players including the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

However, Everton only lost by one goal and were left appealing for a penalty during the second half of the game on Merseyside.

Mark Clattenburg backed the referee’s decision not to award Everton a penalty as he told Everton News that it was correct to stick with the original decision.

However, on Monday evening, that decision against the foul on Thierno Barry was thrown back into the spotlight by Jamie Carragher.

Jamie Carragher says Everton will be furious with new Premier League decision

This comes just days after Moyes sent a message to the Premier League over another set of Everton fixtures to be rescheduled for late night kick offs.

It was clear that the 62-year-old was far from impressed after full time on Saturday as he approached referee Sam Barrott for an explanation.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher says he felt for Everton after seeing an almost identical penalty awarded for Fulham against Nottingham Forest.

HOW on earth is this any different to what Everton had turned away vs Arsenal? 😡

It's an absolute joke!

“Yeah, I mean, when you actually slow it down, probably it looks a little bit worse as every challenge does in that situation,” said Carragher.

“And I keep going back to it because of maybe something that’s happened this weekend involving Arsenal and Everton.

“I think if David Moyes sat at home, you’re probably looking at it and thinking, well, how did we not get a penalty?”

Moyes was furious with Everton’s penalty dismissal against the Gunners, with Barry’s foot clearly kicked by William Saliba.

But to see an almost identical penalty awarded just hours after is a real kick in the teeth for Moyes and the Blues.

Everton robbed of a penalty against Arsenal

The issue with the officiating in the Premier League is how quickly some of the decisions are contradicted.

If the consensus was incidents like Saliba’s kick on Barry was not enough for a penalty, then it would be accepted if that was the call across the board.

Should Everton have been awarded a penalty when Barry was kicked by Saliba?

Mark Clattenburg.

But it has taken just 48 hours for that decision on Merseyside to be made a total mockery of.

With so many absent players, Everton needed a lot to go right on Saturday night to get something from the game and the referee has really cost them an opportunity at a point.

Even Ian Wright thought it was a penalty for Everton against Arsenal as he admitted to seeing them given all the time.

And yet the Blues have to sit back and watch other clubs get the decision for an almost identical incident.
