Jeff Stelling reveals what he’s worried about as Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover edges closer

Everton are on the verge of being taken over after a long drawn-out process.

John Friedkin is close to buying Everton from Farhad Moshiri despite John Textor entering a period of exclusivity.

The Friedkin Group have already identified Gareth Southgate as a potential successor to Sean Dyche, whose position remains uncertain after a torrid start to the season.

That makes this weekend’s clash against Crystal Palace a must-win for the former Burnley boss and with that said, talkSPORT presenter Jeff Stelling has voiced his worry.

Jeff Stelling concerned about Dan Friedkin’s management of Roma

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jeff Stelling voiced his concern about Friedkin’s track record at Roma, noting the number of managers he’s sacked.

“When you look at their track record in Roma, there’s been a phenomenal turnover in terms of coaching staff,” Stelling said.

“They have just got rid of Daniele De Rossi, who’s a legend at Roma. They had just given him an extension of 2027 and then four games into a new season, in which he had lost only once, by the way, they have decided to get rid of him.

“So I worry for Sean.”

Dan Friedkin must stay patient

Given the current squad, Dyche is the best man to take this Everton forward, certainly until there’s some stability upstairs.

With the new stadium set to be complete for next season, the main priority at this stage is to remain in the Premier League.

Dyche, despite a tricky start, deserves the chance to turn it around and he has a good run of fixtures to do so.

Friedkin must stay patient and not repeat what he’s done at Roma.
