Everton are in the process of identifying and contacting a number of transfer targets, with Jack Grealish the hot topic at the moment.

Everton are interested in signing Jack Grealish from Manchester City after his exclusion from the Club World Cup squad.

Grealish, who earns around £300,000-a-week, is valued at around £50m, so it won’t be an easy deal to do for Everton.

RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra is also on David Moyes’ radar, and he certainly impressed in Senegal’s 3-1 win against England on Tuesday evening.

Now, there has been a fresh link that’s just emerged and this time it’s to an Argentina international.

Moyes is in the market for a goalkeeper this summer following the departures of Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic.

Everton have looked at Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper, who was just named the Blades’ Player of the Season.

Now, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon, the Toffees are battling Crystal Palace for the signature of Walter Benitez.

The Argentina goalkeeper wants to leave PSV for the Premier League this window, but ‘he is not sure’ about joining Moyes’ side.

That’s because he fears Jordan Pickford will remain the number one choice, so as it stands, the Everton shot-stopper is actually blocking a move.

Pickford should remain as Everton’s number one goalkeeper

Nixon’s report claims that Moyes wants Benitez to provide competition for Pickford, rather than joining as a traditional number two.

Indeed, it’s very likely the England international would get the nod regardless, and rightly so. Everton should continue with the 31-year-old between the sticks.

Pickford is widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the Premier League, and he’s been a perennial point saver for the club over the last few years.

England fans made the point that Pickford was sorely missed against Senegal, with Dean Henderson clearly not at his level.

So, with all that said, the Toffees should just focus on getting an out-and-out number two, who knows his role.
