Everton look like they’re about to miss out on a £15m Championship player, however, there’s still a chance to hijack the deal.
David Moyes has struggled to get players in this summer and is starting to get a little bit concerned about the lack of business.
“The one thing I’ll do is I’ll tell the fans straight, and I’m telling it straight at the moment, we’re having a bit of a struggle getting ones in quickly,” said Moyes.
Everton are trying to sign Malick Fofana from Lyon, but the Belgium international is waiting for a Champions League club to come in for him.
However, there is no reason why Moyes and his chiefs can’t strike a deal for a Championship player who is potentially on his way to Ipswich Town.

Kieran McKenna trying to persuade Everton target Hayden Hackney to join
Everton are showing an interest in Hayden Hackney this summer, with Moyes keen to bring in a new central midfielder.
The Middlesbrough talisman is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the Championship and as such, he’s been subjected to widespread interest over the last 12 months, or so.
It’s now being reported that Ipswich Town have agreed a £15m deal to sign Hackney, but there is still legwork to do on personal terms.
Hackney prefers a move to the Premier League, so if Everton were to come in late and match Ipswich’s bid, they could actually hijack the transfer.
Everton also interested in Douglas Luiz
Hackney isn’t the only midfielder on Moyes’ shortlist.
It’s understood Everton are keen on signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus, with the former Aston Villa star valued at around £34m.
Luiz has agreed to join the Toffees, however, the club-to-club talks appear to have hit a snag, as Moyes and his chiefs are offering a loan with an option to buy.
The Brazilian’s agent is in England to hold talks.
“Douglas Luiz’s agent is in England, he’s touring English teams—not to London to visit the Queen’s Palace, but he’s touring the King’s Palace, because now the King is here,” journalist Gianni Balzarini said.
“Once upon a time there was the Queen, now there’s the King. Everton, however, has an advantage over other teams, other clubs. There’s a feeling that the deal could be concluded soon.”
