Injuries have really taken a hit on Everton’s recent form over the course of the last month.
There is no excusing the poor start to 2026 for David Moyes, but the 62-year-old is operating without some of his best players.
More should have been done in the transfer window to supplement the issues Everton have when it comes to injuries, too.
There is some good news, as Everton will get Iliman Ndiaye back from AFCON as well as Idrissa Gana Gueye over the coming days.
Moyes did not reveal much positive injury news during Friday’s press conference ahead of the game against Aston Villa.
However, there has since been an update on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to emerge out of Finch Farm.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall injury update out of Everton
During his return to Stamford Bridge, Dewsbury-Hall suffered a hamstring injury, which has since kept him out for over a month.
The injury is just one of the big-name absences suffered on Merseyside of late as Everton’s form has completely fallen off a cliff.
According to one Everton insider, Dewsbury-Hall is now stepping up his recovery, with a return to action finally in sight.
Who has been the bigger miss… Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or Iliman Ndiaye? 🤔
Finally some good news coming Everton's way!
‘Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has stepped up his workload in training and is recovering well from a hamstring injury sustained at Stamford Bridge in December,’ said The Bobble on X.
The Toffees have sorely missed their summer signing, who had just hit the best form of the season before his injury.
On Friday, Moyes had the following to say about Dewsbury-Hall, Charly Alcaraz and Tim Iroegbunam: “They’re getting closer but they’re not training yet.”
Alan Shearer has been so impressed with Dewsbury-Hall following his move from Chelsea in the summer.
Everton will want to be cautious about not rushing him back, but there is no hiding from the fact that he has been a huge miss in the starting XI.
Everton left with interesting Harrison Armstrong decision
Earlier in the week, Preston admitted they’re preparing for Harrison Armstrong to return on loan for the remainder of the season.
There has been no update from Moyes in recent days on where he stands with the 18-year-old midfielder.
What is the best next step for Harrison Armstrong after his recall? 🤩
Following his return, Moyes did say he would ideally like to see Armstrong go back to Deepdale for the rest of the term.
However, Moyes has been so impressed with Armstrong, with the midfielder playing regularly since he was recalled.
As Gueye and Dewsbury-Hall now near their returns, Moyes will have to weigh up whether there will be enough minutes on offer to hand out to Armstrong.
