Everton fans endured a frustrating evening of football on Wednesday night as they saw their side draw at home to Wolves.

It is now just one win in their last six games for David Moyes’ side, with focus turning to the FA Cup this weekend.

Wednesday’s game against Wolves was nothing short of disastrous as Everton ended the game with just nine men.

Speaking to Everton News, Mark Clattenburg has shared his verdict on Michael Keane’s red card for a hair pull on Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare.

Another missed opportunity for the Toffees to put three points on the board, which would have taken them back into the top half.

On the back of a frustrating evening for all involved, Moyes admitted there was one player who did impress him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

What David Moyes said about Everton’s Harrison Armstrong

Having been recalled just last week, Armstrong made his first Premier League start on Wednesday evening against Wolves.

The 18-year-old is now playing for a spot in the squad on Merseyside for the remainder of the campaign.

He may have been pulled off by Moyes in the latter stages of the game, but Moyes told Everton’s media team just how impressed he was with Armstrong.

How did you think Harrison Armstrong played vs Wolves? 🧐

“I was pleased with Harrison. I thought he started slowly, I thought he built into the game more and got used to it as he went along,” said Moyes.

“Look, he’s still got a bit to go and that’s what we keep telling people. We want to bring them on and do it at the right time.”

Moyes admitted he’d like to return Armstrong to Preston before the end of the winter transfer window.

However, with a seamless transition into Premier League football, it is looking difficult for the 62-year-old not to play Armstrong on a regular basis.

Everton simply must start Armstrong going forward

Moyes mixed things up in the middle by playing a midfield three of Armstrong, James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam.

For large parts of the game it looked like the tactical tweak was working, with Iroegbunam also really impressing.

Preston want Armstrong back for the remainder of the season and it is no surprise on the back of his comfortable display against Wolves.

However, Everton are suffering from a number of key injuries that may well propel Armstrong into being a regular starter.

The youngster still has a lot to learn, but being thrown into the side may well bring him up to speed ahead of what could be a huge 2026/27 season for him on Merseyside.
