Everton are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, with Liam Delap reportedly of interest.

The Toffees have managed to avoid relegation from the Premier League after a brilliant impact by David Moyes following Sean Dyche’s departure in January.

While Everton are still not mathematically safe, planning is already underway for next season – and there will be a lot to do for The Friedkin Group and their executives.

There will be a fairly substantial turnover over players, with some out of contract, some only here on loan right now and others to potentially be sold.

Everton are set to be in the market for a new striker – and this week an interesting rumour has been doing the rounds.

Apparently Everton are interest in Liam Delap of Ipswich Town.

Supposedly, Delap will have a £30 million release clause if Ipswich are relegated, which is almost certain to happen, which may put Moyes on red alert.

But there’s one thing that may count against Everton in any pursuit of the player.

Everton target Liam Delap wants European football

Delap has really impressed this season at struggling Ipswich.

His team will go down, but with 12 goals in 33 appearances, he can hold his head high

A number of clubs are showing interest in Delap at the moment, including Everton.

But according to the Telegraph, a big factor for the player this summer will be if a club can offer him European football.

He is expected to favour clubs who can offer that, and he is also keen to be a starting striker wherever he goes next.

There would likely be a reasonable chance of him starting regularly for Everton. However, the Toffees obviously cannot offer European football, which may make a swoop very difficult.

Delap should still consider Everton transfer

While, it’s understandable Delap would want to play in a European competition, he should not discount Everton this summer, if the club are willing to pay the money required.

After some turbulent times, Everton are now a club on the up, with exciting times lying ahead.

Everton are moving into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock from next season and that could be a big attraction.

It’s a clean slate now with TFG at the helm, and there is genuine optimism that the new owners can bring the good times back.

Delap is the kind of centre-forward brute Evertonians love, and he would surely be a very popular player on these parts if he did come. Indeed, some Everton fans have already backed a move for Delap on social media.

Hopefully, he will still be willing to consider Everton as an option despite the lack of European football.
