Long-term Everton managerial target now wants to join Leicester

Everton are in desperate need of a change in the dugout.

Sean Dyche seems to be taking the club backwards at the moment and his pragmatism has seen goals completely dry up.

The Toffees reside just two points above the relegation zone and are now heading into an incredibly difficult run of fixtures.

Everton probably have the hardest run of games in the entire Premier League after they failed to take advantage of their favourable start.

Dyche’s side have accumulated just 11 points from the first 12 games and he appears to be on thin ice because of it.

The Friedkin Group have identified Sergio Conceicao as his potential successor, so it seems the Everton boss may be playing out his final few weeks in charge ahead of the takeover.

If that is to be the case, Everton will soon be drawing up a shortlist, though, one of their long-term targets now wants to join Leicester – who have just sacked Steve Cooper.

Everton-linked Carlos Corberan keen to join Leicester

Carlos Coberan has been long linked with a move to Everton and was in the frame to replace Frank Lampard before Dyche accepted the role, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Even in the summer, Coberan was again being touted to make the switch from West Bromwich Albion but Farhad Moshiri has decided to back the former Burnley boss.

Now, with Leicester sacking Cooper, it seems they could be about to miss the boat on the Spaniard, as he is really keen on taking the job at the King Power Stadium, as per GiveMeSport.

It’s understood Coberan has a £2m release clause in his contract and The Foxes are ready to activate it.

So unfortunately for Everton, it seems they may have to rub a long-term target off their shortlist.

Carlos Coberan remained coy when asked about his future

Speaking after West Brom’s goalless draw against Sunderland on Tuesday evening, Coberan remained coy about his future.

“I can only say how focused I am at West Bromwich, how proud I feel to be the coach of this amazing club,” he told the Express and Star.

“I understand that football always has speculation around, but I didn’t even know that Leicester’s coach was sacked, for example, until last night. There is so much speculation that can appear out of my control.

“I am completely focused in my work, my club, to get better form, to give fans better results and hopefully our fans don’t feel any type of lack of respect because there are always things in the media we cannot control.”
