River Plate are now turning their attention to Everton’s Charly Alcaraz as a serious summer target.

It was only 12 months ago that Everton made the permanent signing of Alcaraz on the back of his initial loan stint.

However, a torrid 2025/26 campaign under David Moyes has thrown his future on Merseyside up in the air.

Don’t hold back, let us know who you want gone this summer 👋

River Plate step up interest in Everton’s Charly Alcaraz

Alcaraz has failed to impress Moyes following his move from Flamengo over the summer.

The Argentine only managed to earn six starts in the Premier League over the course of the entire 2025/26 campaign.

A report from Argentine outlet Ole has shared details of how River Plate are intending to approach a possible deal for Alcaraz.

It must be noted that Atletico Madrid’s Thiago Almada remains River’s top target this summer, with Alcaraz their number two option.

However, River also believe that Alcaraz’s struggles in England under Moyes could help facilitate a return to his homeland.

River’s manager Eduardo Coudet is believed to be a big fan of Alcaraz and feels he has long-term potential to improve his side.

Since the end of January, Alcaraz only managed 12 minutes of Premier League football under the 63-year-old manager.

Alcaraz was blamed for Everton’s draw against Manchester City, with his failure to close down Jeremy Doku leading to a late equaliser for the visitors.

Things looked promising for Alcaraz following his loan stint, but the arrival of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has restricted his opportunities in the starting XI.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, Everton will certainly have an interesting decision as to whether they cash in on the 23-year-old this summer.
