There have been many transfer regrets over the years by Everton, but this could turn out to be the worst of the lot.
This will be something David Moyes tries to prevent in his second spell as the Scotsman will have to be thorough with transfer deals.
Jarrad Branthwaite is someone who will take the headlines once again this summer.
Branthwaite is wanted by the likes of Liverpool in what could be a very difficult decision to be made by Moyes.
Well, a past decision made by Marco Silva could now seriously come back to bite Everton with Liverpool involved again.

Liverpool signing former Everton star Ademola Lookman could be ‘inevitable’
It’s not something Evertonians want to see, but Ademola Lookman, who was once an aspiring talent at Goodison Park, could be making a jump to the red side.
Past claims have suggested that Liverpool wanted Lookman, and it seems as though Arne Slot is ready to double down on these claims.
Lookman has improved massively since leaving Everton and has shown his potential with Atalanta, which explains why Liverpool are after the winger.
Now, according to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (21/04/25), this transfer happening could be ‘inevitable’.
The report states Liverpool ‘like’ the Nigerian international while Juventus are also ‘monitoring’ him.
Lookman has a contract until 2026, with an option for another year, but it’s not 100% likely he will stay with interest in him
It’s stated that if Atalanta were to receive an offer of at least £50m, Lookman’s sale in the summer window would be ‘inevitable’, in a real disadvantage to Everton if he chooses the Reds.

Key change that saw Lookman skyrocket as Everton missed trick
Silva is having a solid stint at Fulham now, but it’s clear he wanted more from his Everton spell.
The former Everton boss was still proud of his achievements, as Silva said he had bettered Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton.
This can be debated, but what can’t be debated is the Portuguese selling Lookman for £22.5m being criminal, as his value has now doubled.
Silva missed a trick at Everton, and Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini explained the change that revolutionised the 27-year-old.
Speaking in the post-match press conference after Atalanta’s Europa League win in 2024, in which the winger scored a famous hat-trick, Gasperini spoke on Lookman.
“We had a senior manager at Atalanta [Lee Congerton] who had worked at Leicester, who saw the opportunity to bring him in and thought he was a possible useful player,” Gasperini said.
“Nobody could ever imagine he could make this much progress. He wasn’t overly prolific in England. I changed his position to a more attacking role.
“Tonight he achieved something which will remain in the annals of football history – a stunning hat-trick.”

Despite Silva’s brilliance as the manager, he clearly missed this opportunity, and Everton have had a howler.
Now with Liverpool on his case, Lookman can make the Toffees pay even more.
