Everton are looking in good nick for the upcoming transfer window, as big decisions will need to be made.

These decisions revolve around letting the bulk of the squad go this window in a bid to improve on their status in the Premier League.

David Moyes wants to get Everton back to where they belong and James Tarkowski has even mooted Everton for Europe.

A successful transfer window can make that happen, but by keeping hold of players like Neal Maupay, it halts Everton’s progression.

Maupay is still a confirmed Everton player despite enduring the season on loan with Marseille, but a new revelation might come back to haunt The Friedkin Group.

Neal Maupay could haunt Everton as £3.3m windfall mooted

Maupay isn’t liked by Everton fans, and it comes with good reason.

There was promise surrounding the Frenchman after completing a £15m move from Brighton after scoring eight goals for the Seagulls the season prior.

But the Toffees suffered and the striker netted once in his entire Goodison Park stay, and matters haven’t been helped with Maupay continually mocking Everton.

The 28-year-old won’t be welcomed back by Moyes, as Maupay was relieved to leave Everton, but it leaves his future up in the air after an underwhelming loan stint with Marseille.

Well, Jeunes Footeux have the latest update, and it comes with positives and negatives.

The positive is that the French side have a mandatory purchase option of £3.3m, meaning Everton will receive that fee from his sale, and despite not fully convincing Roberto De Zerbi, his stay will be made permanent.

However, Marseille will then be looking to offload him in the summer window, and interest has emerged from unnamed clubs from the Premier League and the Championship, meaning he could meet Everton next season and continue his mockery of the club.

Everton get last laugh if Maupay returns to Championship

Since Moyes’ return, the Frenchman has been fairly quiet with his digs at Everton.

This is because Everton will compete in the Premier League for another season, and look to be on the up with the new ownership.

As for Maupay, his loan spell in France hasn’t panned out, and if his destiny is the Championship, then Evertonians will love it.

After Maupay predicted Everton to get relegated, this makes their safety even sweeter.

At the end of it all, it might only be Maupay who plays Championship football next season, and fans will want to forget that the transfer ever happened.
