David Moyes could not have made his demands to Dan Friedkin any clearer ahead of the summer.

Everton head into the summer transfer window without the lure of European football, which makes their task even more difficult.

Last summer’s window provided mixed success, but Moyes is urging The Friedkin Group to put their money where their mouth is.

What David Moyes has demanded from Everton’s owners this summer

Everton are eyeing five positional upgrades this summer given they did not enjoy a high success rate last time around.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes made it very clear that he is looking for the owners to show their ambition this summer.

“I believe that’s what we need to do [show ambition]… And I also want the ownership to show that as well. I want them to come out and show, ‘We’re here, we’re going again, we’re supporting you’,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“And by the way, you can’t always just keep spending bundles of cash, you have to get some rewards for it somewhere along the line. But I hope we can add to what we’ve got. I hope we can excite the supporters a little bit with what we’re trying to do.”

The last six games since the international break has only highlighted the work needing to be done on Merseyside this summer.

Everton had European football in touching distance and completely threw away their opportunity.

Even having not won since March, Everton are just four points off seventh place, which goes to show just how tight the table has remained.

A lot of Everton supporters are furious with Moyes for how he has failed to capitalise on the opportunity of European football.

Although an immediate change feels unlikely, this is something the Friedkins will have to consider when deciding just how much they will provide Moyes to spend.
