Everton are now facing competition from Nottingham Forest in the race to sign a £30m winger this summer transfer window.

David Moyes and his recruitment team are working tirelessly to get new signings through the door at Finch Farm, but it’s been a tough summer so far.

Everton have signed Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers, but Moyes wanted 10 new additions before the start of the window.

That no longer looks possible, however, with five weeks remaining until the window slams shut, there is still time to add quality.

The Toffees are about to sign Adam Aznou and Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is also being linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But, they’re now facing competition from Nottingham Forest for one of their other rumoured targets.

Everton facing competition from Nottingham Forest for Ben Doak

Everton have shown an interest in Ben Doak this summer, with the Liverpool winger coming off the back of a productive loan spell at Middlesbrough last term.

Doak registered a commendable 10 goal involvements in 24 outings before suffering a hamstring injury at the start of the year, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Liverpool are demanding £30m for Doak’s signature, and now it’s just emerged that Nottingham Forest are discussing the possibility of signing the 19-year-old, according to the Telegraph.

So, the Friedkin Group will have to move fast, otherwise, Forest could snatch the former Celtic wonderkid, who Moyes really admires.

Everton not willing to meet Liverpool’s demands

It’s understood that Everton are willing to pay around £15m for Doak, so there is a huge gap in valuations between the two clubs.

Perhaps as the window draws to a close, Liverpool may reduce their asking price as Doak is expected to be a bit-part player for Arne Slot, anyway.

Forest are about to spend £35m on Dan Ndoye, so they’re unlikely to shell out £30m for the Liverpool wide player, too.

Anyhow, whatever happens, Everton just need to ensure they have a winger in before the new season kicks off in 21 days.
