Everton will no longer be facing Graham Potter on Monday night, with West Ham United agreeing to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo.

David Moyes was set to come up against an under pressure Potter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday evening, but his fate has now been decided.

On Friday afternoon, Moyes backed Potter to pull through the scrutiny in east London following West Ham’s difficult opening weeks.

“He’s probably finding it quite difficult at the moment, but overall, he’s an excellent manager and I have no doubt he’ll be a success,” he said during his press conference.

Everton now look set to come up against the former Nottingham Forest manager if West Ham can get the 51-year-old in over the weekend.

Former Everton boss Sean Dyche had been discussed as a possible West Ham successor, but the decision now looks set.

And Espirito Santo could warn his new players at the London Stadium about what he noticed following his last meeting with Everton.

Nuno Espirito Santo set to lead West Ham against Everton

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, it is now expected that Espirito Santo will indeed be taking to the dugout on Merseyside on Monday.

Paul Merson is expecting Everton to beat West Ham, but the Toffees will now be wary of a new manager bounce for the Londoners.

West Ham are coming into the game on the docks with just three points to their name for the season.

Moyes received a lot of criticism for his team selection earlier in the week following Everton’s Carabao Cup exit.

However, Everton now face a new challenge with the Irons set to bounce into the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a new manager in charge.

But Espirito Santo will be wary of Everton after what he noticed earlier in the year.

What impressed Nuno Espirito Santo about Everton last season

Coming up against a high-flying Nottingham Forest, Everton were able to take three points off Espirito Santo’s side at the City Ground.

Abdoulaye Doucoure finished off a stunning counter attack for Everton to seal those three points on the road.

Speaking after the game back in April, Espirito Santo praised Everton for the aggression they showed against his Forest side.

“The quality of the players of Everton is there, they are improving, they are intense, they are aggressive, so we have to credit them for their game today,” he said.

“We were not comfortable. Everton were dominant, they created a lot of problems to us.”

Espirito Santo will have his work cut out for him at West Ham, but he will be fully aware of the dangers Everton will pose.
