Everton shocked Champions League-chasing Nottingham Forest with a last-minute winner on Saturday afternoon.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal to seal all three points at the Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

It was Dwight McNeil’s cutting through ball which created the opportunity and Everton supporters all agreed that he was the difference maker.

McNeil came on as a late substitute and was able to make an instant impact, evincing how sorely missed he’s been whilst absent with injury.

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo paid Moyes’ men a glowing compliment, speaking to Sky Sports post-match.

Nuno Espirito Santo admits David Moyes’ Everton were dominant

Normally, after a defeat, managers aren’t the most complimentary about the opposition and tend to focus on their own side’s shortcomings.

But Nuno was happy to accept that Everton were quite simply the better team and were dominant throughout the clash.

“We were not comfortable. Everton were dominant, they created a lot of problems to us,” Nuno admitted.

“There was only one moment in the second half that we were able to settle down and create something, half chances not clear chances.”

Everton certainly displayed another string to their bow, as they had the lion’s share of possession and created a significantly higher xG (expected goals).

That will please Moyes, as not so long ago, there was some criticism about Everton’s lack of threat and quality on the ball.

Everton fifth best team in the Premier League

The Premier League table has Everton in 14th place, but actually, since Moyes has taken over, they’ve picked up the fifth most points in the division.

The Toffees have suffered just two league defeats in his 13 games, amplifying just how resilient they are.

With a few quality attacking additions in the summer and perhaps a centre-back, there’s a genuine possibility Moyes’ men could be challenging for Europe next season.

The Friedkin Group are ready to invest substantial cash into Everton this summer transfer window, so the future is certainly bright on Merseyside.

Moyes is hopeful of signing Liam Delap and Ben Doak, which would cost a combined £60m.
