Where Opta predict Everton to finish this season
One thing Everton have not struggled with this season is finding the back of the net with five goals scored in the last three games.
However, allowing their lead to slip is something which has proven to be a major issue for the Toffees.
Even with their shaky defence in mind, Opta has now predicted Everton to avoid the drop this season after their difficult start.
Even the likes of Ipswich Town have been able to put more points on the board than Everton this season.
Although Opta are now predicting Everton to remain in the Premier League this season, it is expected to go right down to the wire.
Everton have been projected to finish 16th in the table just two points separating them and 18th-placed Ipswich – meaning it’s expected to go down to the final day.
The Friedkin Group will be looking to change Everton’s fortunes
Over the weekend, there was a major twist in the potential takeover on Merseyside despite John Textor’s ongoing interest.
The Friedkin Group returned to the table and now look set to takeover Everton over the coming weeks.
If Dan Friedkin is able to get into the club ahead of the January window then it will be interesting to see how Everton act in the market.
Of course, the club’s existing PSR issues will be under scrutiny but the potential new owner will be looking to make sure Everton avoid the drop comfortably.
