Everton have already had several players leave Finch Farm this summer transfer window.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure are among 12 players to have already left Everton, so there is clearly a big rebuild on the horizon.

Mason Holgate has already found his next club in Qatar with Al-Gharafa SC, whilst Calvert-Lewin is on Manchester United’s shortlist.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has been linked with Roma and there has been some speculation around a move to the Saudi Pro League, too.

Now, another player who left Everton this month could be about to secure his next transfer.

Former Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in talks to join Leicester City

Asmir Begovic left Everton earlier this month after two spells at the club, firstly between 2021 and 2024 and then rejoining from QPR last summer.

Begovic was in talks to join Bosnian side FK Sarajevo, however, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Leicester City are discussing a deal.

The 38-year-old would likely join as Leicester’s back-up goalkeeper to Jakub Stolarczyk, with last season’s number one Mads Hermansen likely to move on.

Newly-appointed Foxes manager Marti Cifuentes worked with Begovic at QPR, so the Spanish head coach is clearly eager to reunite.

Ashley Young close to signing for new club

Ashley Young could be joining Begovic in the Championship as he could resign for Watford after rejecting a new Everton contract.

Watford are exploring a deal to sign Young as they look to push up the league and challenge for promotion this season.

The veteran full-back started his career with the Hornets and has made over a century of appearances for the club.

So clearly it’d be an emotional homecoming if personal terms can be agreed.
