Everton will still be seething about their rejected penalty claim on Saturday just as the Premier League share another announcement ahead of this weekend.
David Moyes does not have to lead his side out for a Boxing Day clash this year as the Blues face an away trip to Burnley on Saturday.
The trip to Turf Moor will provide Everton with a good opportunity to end their two-game run of defeats after their loss to Arsenal at the weekend.

Against the Gunners, Moyes was left furious after Everton did not get a penalty following William Saliba’s kick on Thierno Barry.
The frustrations will only have been added to over the coming days as Jamie Carragher noted Everton’s anger after Fulham were awarded a penalty for an almost-identical incident.
On the back of this weekend’s fixtures, the Premier League have now shared an announcement that is likely to frustrate the Blues even more.

Premier League appoint Craig Pawson to referee Burnley vs Everton
Arsenal legend Ian Wright thought Everton should have been awarded a penalty on Saturday against his former side.
It was a baffling decision from the officials on the day, and Everton will not be thanking the Premier League for their latest appointment ahead of the trip to Turf Moor.
The Premier League have now revealed that Craig Pawson will be the referee on Saturday for Everton’s trip to Lancashire.
Why does this constantly happen to Everton? 😠
The Premier League have appointed Craig Pawson to referee the trip to Burnley…
Pawson will be helped by the following officials on Saturday:
- Assistants: Lee Betts and Mat Wilkes
- Fourth official: Thomas Bramall
- VAR: Tim Wood
- Assistant VAR: Alex Chilowicz
Pawson has officiated 32 Everton games now and the Toffees have only won six of those, with his last outing coming in the recent defeat against Newcastle United.
After the controversy over the weekend, the Premier League have handed Everton another referee with a poor track record against them.
Craig Pawson has made numerous Everton blunders
There are few referees who Everton fans would be pleased to see holding the cards, but Pawson is certainly not one of them.
Pawson controversially disallowed Jake O’Brien’s goal against Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Craig Pawson and Everton, one of the worst combinations in existence…
Everton will not be looking to make excuses as they already have a number of big players missing from their side ahead of the game on Saturday.
With Everton targeting a European finish this season, the Blues cannot afford to be dropping points against sides like Burnley.
However, this decision from the Premier League will only rub salt in the wounds on Merseyside after the decision made at the weekend.
