Richarlison did something after leaving Everton that forced a public reaction from David Moyes in 2022

Everton continue to be linked with a potential reunion with Richarlison with his Tottenham Hotspur future under scrutiny.

The Brazilian forward’s time in north London has been nothing short of a disaster with the 27-year-old sustaining another injury blow over recent weeks.

David Moyes’ side, on the other hand, are showing a lot of promise with three wins from their last three Premier League games – sitting just a point behind Spurs.

Everton would be keen to re-sign Richarlison, but there is a lot which would need to work in their favour to bring the Brazilian back to Merseyside.

However, there was something which happened back in 2022 which saw Moyes publicly criticise Richarlison.

And that could well suggest whether the 61-year-old would actually be on board with signing the forward for Everton.

Everton manager David Moyes criticised Richarlison in 2022

There are a number of Everton fans who want to see Richarlison return in the summer with his time at Spurs clearly not working out.

But there is previous between Richarlison and Moyes in the media with the Scotsman not too fond of some of the Brazilian’s antics on the pitch.

Just weeks into his time at Tottenham, Richarlison showboated in their victory over Nottingham Forest by juggling the ball during the game.

Richarlison was wiped out – ironically – by Brennan Johnson and that was something which Moyes did not shy away from slamming the Brazilian over.

“No, I don’t think there is,” Moyes said in a press conference when questioned whether there was room in the game for Richarlison’s showboating.

“I think football in all countries, there’s no room for ball juggling, whether it is in this one or any other ones, or whether it be in non-league or the Premier League.

“If you are talented enough to do that, you need to be strong enough to take the hits.”

After suffering another setback against Liverpool last week, some Everton fans shared their concerns about Richarlison’s injury record.

But those fans may not have to worry with Moyes clearly not the Brazilian’s number one fan.

Richarlison’s 2024/25 Tottenham injury record

Like many of the Tottenham squad, Richarlison is currently sidelined through a fresh injury.

With the Brazilian forward’s time being marred by injuries, Tottenham are ready to sell Richarlison ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Having paid a whopping £60m to Everton for his services, the Lilywhites could well be prepared to take a significant loss.

It would be a heartwarming reunion for many to bring Richarlison back for the first season at the new stadium.

However, it would certainly be a move which would be made with the heart rather than the head.
