Jordan Pickford has had his critics at times, but he’s in a bit of a purple patch right now, both at Everton and on the international stage with England.

Sean Dyche has a lot to thank Jordan Pickford for after his performance against West Ham, as he single-handedly kept Everton in a game which could have spelt trouble for the manager.

Pickford was a menace once again on the international stage last night against Greece as he put in a Man of the Match performance, making five saves in a 3-0 win for England.

The national media raved about Pickford, with two outlets giving him an 8/10 and one a 7.5/10.

It’s not just the national media who have been left impressed with the Everton goalkeeper, as Sam Allardyce and David Seaman also sang his praises prior to the game.

Sam Allardyce managed Everton for 26 games from November 2017 to May 2018, and his record wasn’t too bad as he averaged 1.42 points per game.

Pickford joined Everton in the summer prior to Allardyce taking charge at Goodison Park.

It’s clear that Pickford left a mark on the former Everton and England boss, as he’s been speaking very highly of a few things he’s noticed about the 30-year-old.

On David Seaman’s YouTube channel Seaman Says, Allardyce joined as a guest and the topic of Jordan Pickford came up after his fine performance against West Ham.

“Other than his technical ability, there is his mental ability to be able to throw away a mistake and not let it affect him again.”

“He gets better when he makes a mistake, rather than going under.”

Seaman added: “When he makes that mistake, he doesn’t think ‘I’ve got to make a save or get that cross’. He waits for it.”

Allardyce responded: “He comes into the dressing room and before you come in, he says ‘I’m sorry, it was my fault’ when he’s made a mistake. There’s a lot to be said for that.”

Jordan Pickford has always been a mentality monster

The one thing you can’t question about Jordan Pickford is his mentality.

For a player who has been known to make his fair share of sloppy mistakes at times, both for England and Everton, he always bounces back ten times better.

Take Pickford’s terrible Greece performance as an example back in September, where he made a horrible mistake for their first goal and looked completely lost throughout.

However, he’s not let it affect him and more than made up for it this time round against Greece, as he put in a Man of the Match display.

And the same goes for his time at Everton. He delivers when it matters most and really lifts his side.
