Saudi clubs planning January bid to sign £100k-a-week player from Everton

Everton’s January transfer window, and any signings they hope to make, will once again be dictated by those who they first sell.

That is, unless Dan Friedkin can find some financial wriggle room.

At this moment in time, another relegation battle feels like a very real possibility, and should those fears persist come January, something might have to change.

But, needing to sell before they can buy represents a tough task when they are not blessed with desirable talent.

One man, however, could bail them out.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin under transfer interest ahead of January

The latest on the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin comes courtesy of TuttoJuve, who report that, whilst Juventus do want the Everton striker, they may face some competition.

After all, it would be hard for the Italian outfit to compete with the financial might of the Saudi Pro League, which is what they are suggesting.

The report reads: ‘Juve is preparing an effort to sign a striker in January, on their list there is also Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

‘The English striker from Everton has a contract that will expire at the end of the season, and represents a great opportunity on the market.

‘At 27, he seems destined to turn his career around and move to a big club. He is also followed by Saudi clubs, Juve follows him, but there are doubts about the footballer’s recent achievements, only 7 goals last year, 2 this year.’

It was noted earlier in the week that Calvert-Lewin was open to an Everton exit, keen on a new adventure, but it remains to be seen whether he would prefer to stay in the Premier League, Europe or elsewhere.

Saudi Pro League could bail Everton out

With a contract due to expire this summer, Everton’s bargaining position regarding their star striker is far from strong.

After all, the £100k-a-week marksman will likely be hoping that, given the lack of transfer fee he would command, he will see his own personal coffers boosted.

However, with the Saudi Pro League, these figures are all inconsequential anyway.

With the money being paid over there to tempt big-name stars from top European leagues, they could stump up a solid transfer fee whilst still giving Calvert-Lewin a huge pay packet too.

The money on display is simply ludicrous.

Everton will offer Calvert-Lewin a new deal, but it will be tough to compete with their financial might.

It might just come down to whether his ambition in England outweighs his desire for unbridled wealth.
