Everton have been shockingly proactive in the transfer market this summer, adding depth where it was needed, and selling intelligently to adhere to PSR.
However, despite seemingly surpassing the financial restrictions imposed, this is a long summer.
There is still likely to be plenty of thrills and spills for Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell to navigate, especially given the plethora of sought-after talent they have retained thus far.
Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana have all been linked with Goodison Park exits, yet do still remain.
However, for the latter, what happened just last night might be the catalyst that sees him depart.
Everton’s Amadou Onana crashes out of Euro 2024
Given Alan Myers confirmed the ‘serious interest’ held in Everton’s Amadou Onana, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona just two European powerhouses sniffing around, it feels like he of all players will not end the summer at Everton.
After all, he has already been vocal in his ambition, and clearly sees his future outside of Merseyside.
Given what this journalist claimed, the fact he has not departed yet is not due to a lack of interest.
Instead, it was likely his ongoing participation in Euro 2024, which was ruthlessly cut short last night at the hands of heavy favourites France.
His side was sluggish and uninspiring, and he did little to alter their steady slump to defeat in the midfield, passing backwards and sideways whilst albeit impressively keeping Kylian Mbappe quiet.

But now that his Red Devils have exited the competition, negotiations can likely begin between Everton and these supposed interested parties.
Everton are already eyeing Amadou Onana replacements
If Everton have to sell to stay afloat, or even if Thelwell just wants some additional funds, of all those aforementioned star names, the £60m-rated Onana would likely be the least detrimental exit.
After all, the Toffees are already relatively strong in his position, and the fact that their best spell in the Premier League last season came with him out of the side, replaced by Idrissa Gana Gueye, speaks volumes.
Already Dyche seems to be seeking around for his replacement anyway though, with Everton’s interest in Florentino Luis one such move they could make.
And that’s without mentioning that Everton actually completed a deal for Tim Iroegbunam just last month already.

By all accounts, they are preparing for life without Onana, with their reported interest in Wilfred Ndidi just another potential alternative they could opt for.
Now that Onana’s Euro 2024 campaign is over, Dyche can finally get down to business and sort out a deal for his exit.
