Dele Alli has been through a tricky time over the past few years, but he’s now nearing a comeback so where does he fit in under Sean Dyche at Everton?
Upon breaking through into the mainstream for MK Dons back in 2012-13, Dele Alli was instantly cherished as a potentially top-level talent. The murmurs were proven true in 2015 when he made the move to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of just over £5m.
At Spurs, he would go on to put up the kind of numbers that could have seen him end up a Premier League legend. 67 goals and 61 assists in 269 appearances for Spurs in all competitions and all by the age of 25.
But particularly after Mauricio Pochettinho left Spurs, he began to go downhill which culminated in a free transfer to Everton where he was quickly shifted out of Goodison Park and off on loan to Besiktas.
Now, after a season of injury woes, he finally is back in training and should be back in the fold in 2024. On his return, Sean Dyche needs to play him as a number 10 and reap the rewards.

Where does Dele Alli fit in for Everton?
Dele is the type of player who if he finds his form, could raise Everton up an additional few levels which is why Dyche must give him a shot to prove himself.
His stats speak for themselves and the fact he has been lauded as a ‘very special‘ by legendary midfielder Xavi says an awful lot about just how talented he is.
In this current Everton side, there is a role which is perfect for Dele. The only problem is that it’s currently occupied by the outstanding Abdoulaye Doucoure.
However, if both are at their top level, Dele is a better player and therefore Dyche needs to give him a chance in that position behind the striker.
What is Dele’s contract situation at Everton?
If Dyche is planning on giving Dele a chance to find himself again, he’s going to need to be fast as the English international will be out of contract in June 2024.
At £100k-a-week according to Capology, it is an amount Everton can’t justify spending to renew unless he catches fire. Although he is probably due to a pay cut in any event.
Turning 28 in January, Dele should be in his prime and therefore there’s a great case for him to be given a run in the team.
