Everton are gearing up to face Ipswich Town later on today with a trip to Portman Road, and in his press conference Sean Dyche has shared the truth about one player in particular.

The Toffees are waiting on a late fitness test from Jarrad Branthwaite to see if he can play any part in today’s game, with a few players already ruled out.

Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner and Nathan Patterson have already been ruled out with injuries, which has left Sean Dyche with slightly less options.

Everton do have Iliman Ndiaye fit and ready, as well as Seamus Coleman and Vitalii Mykolenko ready to return after lay-offs, so there’s one positive.

Interestingly, when speaking in his press conference ahead of the Ipswich game, Sean Dyche shared the truth about one of those injured players.

Sean Dyche has struggled to be honest at times with some of his players, often beating around the bush when it comes to Jake O’Brien‘s lack of minutes.

However, he’s come out and spoken openly and honestly about where the club see one player at right now, which is refreshing to see.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Sean Dyche says Tim Iroegbunam was expected to be a slow burner and not included at this stage for Everton.

He said this.

“Tim had a really good pre-season, a really good start, but if truth be known, he was probably the one we were thinking who was probably going to be more of a slow burner.”

Tim Iroegbunam’s time at Everton so far

Tim Iroegbunam joined Everton from Chelsea for £9 million in the summer.

He’s already made six appearances for the Toffees in the Premier League this season, which is more than even Sean Dyche expected him to make.

There’s no doubting he has the ability to become a special player in the middle of midfield, as he’s already showing promising signs at 21 years of age.

However, the club will be hoping that these kind of unexpected injuries stay away after witnessing Dele Alli’s struggles at Goodison.
