Everton made nine signings over the summer transfer window as David Moyes was handed the clear backing of the owners.
More is going to be needed in January, with Everton’s squad depth being tested over recent weeks amid the injuries and suspensions.
Some of the signings made over the summer have made an immediate impact on Merseyside.
David Moyes has waxed lyrical about Jack Grealish, who turned match-winner on Tuesday night against Bournemouth down at the Vitality Stadium.
There may, however, be some questions being asked about the likes of Tyler Dibling after his clear lack of opportunities under Moyes.
Ahead of Sean Dyche’s return to Merseyside on Saturday, the 54-year-old has now raved about a player Everton eyed as a Dibling alternative.

Sean Dyche waxes lyrical about winger Everton targeted in the summer
Everton were interested in signing Omari Hutchinson over the summer, but they eventually landed on Dibling from Southampton.
Whilst Dibling has been watching from the bench, Hutchinson has been playing regularly in the Forest starting XI.
Did Everton make a mistake signing Dibling instead of Hutchinson? If so, why… 😬
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Dyche has lavished special praise on Hutchinson following his display against Wolves on Wednesday.
“It was a great cross from Omari, who I thought was excellent,” said the former Everton boss.
“It wasn’t just that cross; his work ethic for the team was absolutely top-class. I still think there is more to come from him.”
Hutchinson has a £35m release clause during the summer, which expired before Forest ended up spending around £37.5m on the winger.
Three years Dibling’s senior, Hutchinson has been trusted at Forest, which is something Dibling will be hoping to receive over the coming weeks on Merseyside.

Tyler Dibling’s Everton opportunity is surely just around the corner
Alan Stubbs is expecting to see a lot of Dibling later in the month when Iliman Ndiaye departs for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The young winger has gone from playing just about every minute in the Premier League last season with Southampton to barely being able to get a chance off the bench.
What type of reception does Sean Dyche deserve on Saturday? 🤐
Saturday could be his opportunity to really get the fans off their seats at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, if he is given the opportunity.
Dyche is hoping for a welcoming reception from Everton fans on Saturday as Moyes will be considering his options for the starting XI.
It would be the perfect response if Dibling was to get some minutes under his belt and play his part in what would be another impressive win.
