Everton are now just two days out from opening their 2024/25 Premier League campaign at Goodison Park.

It is set to be an emotional season as the Toffees are set to bid goodbye to their famous stadium in what will be the final season at Goodison.

Sean Dyche‘s side have prepared well for this new campaign with Kevin Thelwell proving to be a busy man in the transfer window.

Four new faces have arrived at Everton so far with a number of players having also left; the biggest being Amadou Onana’s £50m sale to Aston Villa.

However, those one Merseyside have every right to hold bigger expectations about the upcoming campaign following a difficult few years.

And there is one man in Shay Given who is expecting something really surprising from the Toffees in the league this season.

Where Shay Given expects Everton to finish in 2024/25 Premier League

Last season really was one to forget overall for Everton with the points deductions seeing them linger around the bottom end of the table.

However, there could be a lot of optimism taken from their strong end to the season which certainly will have taken some by surprise.

And it seems as if Given is liking what he has seen from Everton over the summer as he shared his prediction with the Premier League website.

A number of Premier League pundits were asked for their surprise predictions of the campaign which saw Given provide some Everton fans with something to hold on to.

“Everton. I don’t think they’ll be in a relegation fight but will be cruising in top half,” Given said.

Considering the Blues finished all the way down in 15th last season, a top half finish would be the stuff of dreams for the final term at Goodison.

Could Everton finish in the Premier League top 10?

It would be a huge ask. However, the gap to Crystal Palace who finished in the top half last season was only nine points.

Of course, that is still a decent chunk of points but it has to be remembered Everton only really picked up their form in the final games of the season.

And on top of that, the Blues did have to endure their points deductions as a result of the financial penalties.

So, with that in mind, and with a strong transfer window behind them, there could be a lot of cause for optimism going into this new season on Merseyside.
