Simon Jordan claims striker Everton want to sign is just an absolute ‘donkey’

Everton are in the market for a new striker to help Thierno Barry and Beto.

The Friedkin Group were keen on a deal to take Youssef En-Nesyri on loan from Fenerbahce, but the Morocco international has opted to sign for Juventus instead of moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It means Everton could now turn attention towards Jorgen Strand Larsen as Wolves look to sell the Norwegian for £40m – but if a deal does materialise, Simon Jordan will feel the Toffees have recruited poorly.

How much would you pay for Jorgen Strand Larsen in January? 🤨

Simon Jordan hits out at Everton target Jorgen Strand Larsen

The Norway international netted 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season – more than Jarrod Bowen, Luis Diaz and Antoine Semenyo – but the former Crystal Palace chairman does not rate him whatsoever despite that haul.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “I think he’s a donkey, I do. I think he’s a poor Premier League player. I think he’s massively overvalued and I’m amazed that Wolves didn’t send him out in a cab for £60m (when Newcastle bid last summer).”

If Larsen is considered a donkey in the eyes of the 58-year-old, we dread to think how he feels about Beto, who has only managed to score 18 goals in 96 games since his £26m move from Udinese in August 2023.

That is precisely why Everton could do with signing the Wolves No.9 this winter, as the 27-year-old is doing little to help take the pressure off the 23-year-old Thierno Barry following his £27m switch from Villarreal last July.

£40m may seem like a lot, but it is a very fair price for a 25-year-old international with experience of scoring regularly in the Premier League, so it is a deal The Friedkin Group must seriously consider.

Jorgen Strand Larsen is not the only Wolves player Everton admire

With Wolves widely expected to be relegated this season, the vultures are circling around Molineux.

Not only is Larsen being targeted, but Everton also like Mateus Mane – presumably even more so after the Portuguese wonderkid recently netted against Jordan Pickford.

How impressed were you with Mateus Mane on Wednesday night for Wolves? 👏

There are many other talents at Molineux too, such as midfield duo Andre and Joao Gomes, so if Rob Edwards does end up taking Wolves down, Everton should be sniffing around the squad.
