Everton could only draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend to leave their European hopes hanging by a thread.
David Moyes watched his side twice take the lead at Selhurst Park, but the game finished 2-2 and the Toffees were left to rue missed chances.
No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye again both had great opportunities to put Everton out of sight.
This was also the case against Manchester City, and the four dropped points in the space of six days are very damaging.
After the draw with Palace, Moyes insisted that Everton’s bid for European football is not completely dead.
But it seems Sky Sports don’t agree with that assessment.
Everton omitted from Race For Europe graphic on Monday Night Football

Last night on Monday Night Football, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur taking on Leeds United, Sky Sports flashed up a graphic showing the teams they feel are still in the race for European football.
And clearly, the broadcaster reckons Everton are now out of the picture, as they only showed the table from sixth to eighth.
Currently those clubs are:
- Bournemouth – 55
- Brighton – 53
- Brentford – 51
Neither Jermain Defoe nor Jamie Carragher – who were on punditry duty – even mentioned 10th placed Everton or even Chelsea in ninth, seemingly feeling that their challenges are now over.
Of course, if Aston Villa win the Europa League, then eighth place will become a Conference League spot.
Two games to go… where do you see Everton actually finishing in the table? 😫
Europe now feels incredibly unlikely… 👋
Everton are still just two points behind Brentford despite a complete loss of momentum.
So it was interesting of Sky to omit both Everton and Chelsea from the graphic.
Admittedly, a lot of Evertonians do now feel that the club will come up short in the race for European football.
But it’s still possible, so for Sky not to include Everton and Chelsea in their graphic felt a little off.
David Moyes still hopeful
After the draw with Palace, Moyes told Match of the Day: “It’s amazing that we are actually talking about Everton possibly being in Europe with two games to go – and we’re not out of it yet.

“It’s getting tougher every game we’re not winning.”
At this point it will take a miracle, and all Everton can do is win their final two games against Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur to give themselves an outside chance.
